Full Professor of Regional Geography at the University of Alicante (Spain). Jorge Olcina Cantos was speaker at the International Year of the Planet (2008), declared by UNESCO. He served as the Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters between 2009 and 2013. He has international recognition as a researcher in geographical topics of spatial planning, natural risks, applied climatology, climate change, and the theory of geography. He has more than two hundred publications, including articles, book chapters, and books (JCR and Scopus). He is a member of the Editorial Board of various scientific journals on geographical and environmental topics. He has collaborated with European and Latin American universities. He has been the President of the Spanish Association of Geography (2017-2021). He has been the Commissioner of the Generalitat Valenciana for the Vega Renhace Plan (2019-2023). Currently, he is the Director of the « Climate Change-Aguas de Alicante Cátedra » at the University of Alicante.
