Emmanuel Roux is researcher at the French Research Institute for Development (Institut de Recherche pour le Développement), in the ESPACE-DEV Unit since 2007. He received his Ph.D. degree in industrial and human automation and computer science in 2002, from the University of Valenciennes, France. His skills concern the data science.
More specifically, his research interests are:
- Spatial modelling of entomological and/or epidemiological data;
- Objective characterization of the environment and of the landscape from satellite data;
- Data- or knowledge-driven modelling of the environment and health relationships;
- Cross-border health.
He participates to, or co-supervises, several partnership and research projects that contribute to the construction of cross-border health observatories, at the international borders of the Brazilian Amazon.
Since 2018, he is the co-leader of the Joint International Laboratory « Cross-border observatories of Environment, Climate and Vector-borne diseases : Sentinel sites of the Brazilian climate and health observatory (LMI Sentinela).

Les maladies vectorielles sont un enjeu de santé publique avéré sur la zone frontalière amazonienne de l’Oyapock entre la France d’outre-mer en Guyane française et le nord du Brésil en Amapá. La présence de populations vulnérables et la mobilité des agents pathogènes contribuent au risque de paludisme dans ce territoire.
