Rémy Chapoulie est professeur de physique pour l’archéométrie et le patrimoine culturel à l’Université Bordeaux Montaigne. Il a été élu au Comité scientifique des sciences humaines et sociales du CNRS (2000-2004), au Conseil National des Universités de France (CNU Milieux denses et matériaux 2006-2008) et à la commission de la Recherche de la Région Aquitaine (2004-2010). Il a été directeur de deux laboratoires dans le domaine de l’archéométrie et des technologies 3D (anciennement IRAMAT-CRP2A et ARCHEOVISION). Il est actuellement chercheur à l’UMR 6034 Archéosciences Bordeaux, et il est responsable de la plateforme Archeovision (SHS-3D). Il est membre du conseil scientifique de son laboratoire et du conseil scientifique du département de recherche en sciences archéologiques de l’université de Bordeaux. Ses activités de recherche concernent l’étude physico-chimique de matériaux anciens (céramiques, lithiques, pigments, verres, faïences, estampes, tapisseries, etc.) et la taphonomie des parois de grottes préhistoriques. Il développe notamment l’utilisation d’instruments mobiles pour les mesures physico-chimiques in situ (à l’aide de lumières, lasers, rayons X…), et il travaille sur l’intégration de données scientifiques dans des Systèmes d’Informations Référencées en 3D.
