Ce volume propose une première réflexion exploratoire sur les principes et les enjeux du projet TeMAES (Territoire multiples : agentivité et environnements socio-économiques). Pour étudier les territoires antiques on se fonde ici sur une démarche qui met l’accent sur deux aspects, l’un géographique et l’autre social. Ils constituent les principaux axes de recherche pour cerner l’évolution de l’espace urbain et de la topographie d’une cité ou d’un réseau de cités, les relations avec le territoire ainsi que le paysage social.
La réflexion proposée se nourrit de l’expérience d’une démarche résolument intra- et interdisciplinaire, mobilisant différents types de sources pour aborder les dimensions politique, juridique, économique d’un territoire et ses interconnexions.

This volume provides an overview of the principles and issues at stake in the TeMAES project (Multiple territories: agency and socio-economic environment). The study of ancient territories is structured around two aspects, one geographical and the other social. These are the main lines of research in order to outline the evolution of urban space and the topography of a city or a network of cities, and to interpret the relations with the territory and the social landscape. The proposed research draws on the experience of a firmly intra- and interdisciplinary approach, involving different types of sources to address the political, legal and economic dimensions of a territory and its interconnections.
